Anna Karenina (1953)

Anna Arkadievna Karenina is 20 years younger than her tough husband Aleksei Aleksandrovich Karenin. Anna meets the handsome Count Vronsky, and they fall in love with each other, and make a baby. But their happiness is under the pressure from Anna’s husband, who is obstructing their divorce. The lovers are trying to escape from the society that is not accepting their love. But Count Vronsky does not want to abandon his social life. Anna becomes traumatized and depressed by the unbearable conflict with reality.
The Snow Maiden (1952)

Her mother takes pity and gives her this ability, but as soon as she falls in love, her heart warms up and she melts.
The Unforgettable Year 1919 (1952)

Stalin (Gelovani) and Lenin (Molchanov) are shown as heroes who destroyed the efforts of anti-communists led by White Russians with support from bad” British capitalists headed by Sir Winston Churchill and Lloyd George. The film was leader of the Soviet box office in 1952 albeit after the death of Stalin in 1953 its popularity eventually faded.”

Before going on an overseas journey, a merchant father asks his 3 daughters what they would like him to bring for them. The eldest asks for a shining tiara, the middle asks for a frame through which her face would always appear young, and the youngest (Nastenka) asks her father to bring her a beautiful scarlet flower like one which she saw in her dreams.
The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish (1950)

In Pushkin’s poem, an old man and woman have been living poorly for many years. They have a small hut, and every day the man goes out to fish. One day, he throws in his net and pulls out a golden fish. The fish pleads for its life, promising any wish in return. When he asks that his wife be made the Ruler of the Sea, the fish cures her greed by putting her back in the old cottage. The moral of the story is: do not get too greedy, or you will end up with nothing.
Mussorgsky (1950)

A group of composers known as The Five meet at Balakirev’s, Saint Petersburg. Young Modest Mussorgsky, both a civil servant and a musician, has become a fixture there. When he goes to the country and discovers the lowly conditions of the peasants and the bloody conflicts with the rich land owners. He works on Gogol’s ‘The Marriage’, trying to render into music the natural accents of the play’s naturalistic dialogue. But his efforts do not pan out. On the other hand, he starts writing his opera on the story of Boris Godunov. The Marinsky Theatre refuses to stage the work. The Five, and Mussorgsky among them, are libeled and the group starts disintegrating.
